However, a fixed value in a spreadsheet is one that does not vary when the spreadsheet is re-calculated or opened. Pressing a shortcut such as Ctrl+; to paste the actual date into a row, Excel makes a "snapshot" of the actual date and then pastes the date into the row.
Since the value of this cells does not vary, it is regarded as stationary. Highlight the cells on a spreadsheet in which you want to paste the date or time. Enter the date by pressing Ctrl+; (semicolon). To enter the actual time, push Strg+Shift+; (semicolon). To enter the time, depress the + (semicolon) key.

Any date or time that is updated when the spreadsheet is re-calculated or the spreadsheet is opened is regarded as "dynamic" instead of being static.
The most commonly used method in a spreadsheet to retrieve a date or time that is dynamically stored in a single row is to use a spreadsheet feature. Use the TODAY and NOW features as shown in the following example to add the actual date or time so that it can be updated. Choose the text in the above chart, then hit Ctrl+C.
Click once in A1 in the empty spreadsheet, and then choose Ctrl+V. When you work in Excel Online, copy and past for each of the cells in the example. In order for the example to work correctly, you must insert it into the A1 box of the spreadsheet. In order to toggle between displaying the results and displaying the formula that provides the results, either Ctrl+` ( serious accent) or click the Show Formula buttons in the Formula Audit group on the Formula page.
Once you have copied the example to an empty spreadsheet, you can customize it to your needs. Remark: The results of the TODAY and NOW features only vary when the spreadsheet is computed or when a function containing the feature is executed. Time and date are taken from the system time of the computer.
Right-click a row and choose Apply Formats to Cells to modify the date or time formats. Then in the Formats Cells dialog, on the Number page, under Category, click Date or Time, in the Types dropdown menu, click a model, and then click OK.
