Getting Started with Bitnami Applications with an Installer Even if you've ever tried to install a web based web based app (like WordPress) or a web based programming tool (like Apache/PHP/MySQL), you already know that it's much more difficult than it seems at first time. Unnecessary to say that there is a better way: a Bitnami natively installed one. The Bitnami provides pre-configured image files for automatic deployment of common Windows, Mac OS X and Linux platform servers.

That means there are no extra library, database and runtime downloads, and the new applications or deployment environments will not interact with other softwares on your system after installation. I' ll take you step-by-step through the steps of using a Bitnami natively powered installation tool to provision a new generation on your desktop system.

So if you are interested in making a small or private blogs, there is a good chance that you will be using WordPress. WorldPress is one of the most beloved blogs in the word, with more than 60 million sites (according to Wikipedia). The WordPress is unbelievably simple to use, contains tons of enhancements and topics and is totally free and open sources.

Here I would like to instal the Bitnami WordPress Stack, which offers you a preconfigured WordPress blogs that you can use immediately. WordPress is just one example: there are literally hundred of other Bitnami apps to select from, and they're all just as simple to setup. By the end of this stage you have completed the Bitnami WordPress Stack install. Start by download the Bitnami WordPress Stack for your plattform. In Windows and Mac OS X, start the install procedure by double-clicking the install file.

Under Linux, give the performer executive privileges and then run the setup as shown below: Choose the install languages when asked. In the resulting components chooser dialog, choose WordPress. Choose the submenu "Contributions -> New" to generate a new contribution. Now you have a working, fully functioning WordPress blogs in the clamp. Keep your WordPress install up to date with the WordPress auto refresh function. Login to WordPress with the admin user area. Choose the Dashboard -> Updates tab.

Check the resulting page to see if WordPress needs an upgrade. If required, you can also reinstall WordPress by clicking the "Re-install now" icon.
