Initially designed to substitute for a bridge over the American Rivers that would have been inundated by the dam that would have been formed by the Auburn Dam, the bridge decks are 220 meters above the river.[1] It was manufactured in 1971 by Kawasaki Heavy Industries in Japan, designed by Willamette Western Contractors and opened in 1973.

This bridge crosses the North Fork of the American River in Placer County between the cities of Auburn and Foresthill in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada. 2 pedestrians can go the length of the bridge in both ways. Capilano Overhead Bridge is a humble overhead bridge over the Capilano river in the District of North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. This bridge is 140 meters (460 ft)[1] long and 70 meters (230 ft) above the rivers. This bridge was constructed in 1889 by George Grant Mackay, a Scots construction architect and Vancouver parks officer.

Initially it consisted of cannabis rope with a decking of red boards and was substituted by a bridge in 1903. Edward Mahon bought the Capilano Suspension Bridge in 1910. "Mac " MacEachran bought the bridge from Mahon in 1935 and asked the locals to place their stakes in the garden and add their own themed.

1945 he sells the bridge to Henri Aubeneau. In 1983 the property was bought by Nancy Stibbard, the present proprietor. The number of visitors grew annually and in May 2004 Treetops Adventures was opened, comprising seven walkways hung between old Douglas fir tree tops on the western side of the channel, creating a walkways up to 30 meters above the forest ground.

It also offers rainforest eco-tours, parks, nature paths, North America's biggest privately owned collections of First Nations stakes, historical decorations and outfits, and exhibitions that highlight the story of the parks and the nearby moderate rainforest. 1999 a lady let her 18 months old handicapped kid fall off the bridge.
