A bridge in music examples

The bridge is used in both song structures to bring something different into the song so that it doesn't repeat itself too much. Musically we can expect the bridge to look different than the rest of the song. With regard to the chord sequences, the bridge is often a direct contrast to the chorus. A bridge is not between the verse and the chorus, usually this short section is called the pre-chorus.

A bridge in music, especially in pop music from the West, is a section that contrasts and is prepared for the coming back of the initial part.
