Migration of GoDaddy to Google G Suite email domains

I also wrote another paper about the right way to migration from Gmail to G-Suite emails, which might be of interest.... Let's see how I transferred an email from GoDaddy to the G Suite. Initially, the moveable domains were configured in the G Suite Admin Console.

Clicking the "Add a domain or domain alias" icon led to a pop-up for the next stage. So, in the pop-up window, I chose'Add another domain' and typed in the name of the domainname I wanted to move from GoDaddy to G Suite, i.e. ''. Then there were some measures to check the possession of the domains.

Activate Domains' showed all available option for this, which I will not discuss here. The next step was to set up MX record on the top level domains. But if you are not sure where to make this modification, GoDaddy DNS Manager is a good choice. Some time later, the Admin Console G Suite Admin Console enabled the domains.

There was no way to move on to the next step until the domains were declared active. By this time, the domains had been configured to accept email, but no people had been added, so no email would actually reach them. While in the G Suite Admin Console pane, I chose'Add user' and generated a custom with the same name as the one GoDaddy had.

Could have used a different name, but I wanted to leave the email the same. At this point, the mail client was configured and prepared to accept mail, but none of the available mail was available. In the next stage, all available e-mails were copied from the GoDaddy server to the G Suite.

It has been launched in the 'Data Migration' section of the G Suite Admin Console. so I chose this one. GoDaddy next had a few choices about how G Suite would link to its GoDaddy hosts. I didn't work with the auto check so I had to find the IMAP host name that GoDaddy used.

To do this in the GoDaddy cPanel's Email section, click'Configure Email Client' in the drop-down email account settings for the email that you want to migrate. Updated the IMAP over SSL/TLS config files for my ISP to find out the IMAP servers specifications. The IMAP value base on the above example was "".

From the G-Suite drop-down list, I chose Immap, typed in the Immap servers and the email/password used on the GoDaddy page. When you click'Connect', the next monitor showed that G Suite was able to successfully pair. Then I typed in the starting date of the email migrations with a value that was long before the time of the first creation of the initial email to make sure that all email was duplicated.

I' ve also chosen to copy erased and spam e-mails, just in case. I had to choose the previously built G-Suite account (this is the same email as GoDaddy originally) to actually run the walk. There was a pop-up window where I could type in the email addresses from which the migrations were performed (the GoDaddy IMAP setup above) and the users of the G-Suite who should be receiving allmails.

I was informed that the process of migrating the e-mails was underway after choosing the sources and destinations. Stopping the migrations was imperative in order to proceed, and this sent a migrations log indicating the number of e-mails that had been scanned, mistakes that had occurred, etc. The migrations were then completed. By that time, the old GoDaddy server's email on the G Suite was working, it could be sending and receiving email, and that was all it needed from a technical point of view.

Normally the next stage wasn't absolutely necessary, but since I was using PrestaShop and using the default PHP mailto() feature, the GoDaddy server had to be set up to forward e-mails through the G Suite and not process them there. Failure to do this would result in all email sent from PrestaShop to the email that I have moved to the G Suite still being processed by the GoDaddy server and not being displayed in the G Suite.

In order to make this modification, I called the 'MX Records' section in the GoDaddy cPanel. Once I had selected the domains where I moved e-mails from the drop-down list, I pressed'Remote Email Exchanger' and pressed 'Change'. Then I added the three best MX server from Google from the preceding stages and stored the setup.
