Precise time markings

Precise Time Markers (ETMs), marking points in the clock, set in seconds and seconds. These are implemented in blocks in the Blocks Definition dialog box. An ETM is used to adapt the transmission time in the timetable or to inform the operator when a certain programme item is to be transmitted. Accurate time stamps are also used for automation with Master Control, are used in traffic integration, and have a role in achieving the timing goal.

Detailed information on using accurate time markers in traffic integration can be found in the notes in the Traffic pane theme. The Exact Time Marker defines time points in the timetable. Any period of time between an ETM is known as aegment. Timing target works with these time periods. The GSelector places a standard Reset ETM at the top of every hour, resetting the time to 00:00 at the top of the clock.

GSelector thus begins by setting the standard time period to 60:00. Likewise, if you reset an ETM (or either ETM hardware or ETM soft) within a clock, the Timing Goal tries to plan the smaller segment exactly. You can also use Hit Exact Time Markers within this overall tree.

GSelector allows you to plan latitudes with a predefined flexible offset value so that Hit Exact Time Marker related incidents can be planned within predefined boundaries near their scheduled time. If you are working in the Define Exact Time Marker pane, adjust the time and specify the Exact Time Marker model, and offer optional planning versatility by ETM model.

Precise time markers are incorporated into watches in the Timer Definition pane; see the instructions for processing watch contents for more detail. Use the Navigation Bar - Click the Watches panel and then the Exact Time Markers panel to open a similar detail display screen that has been narrowed down to a better fitting in the Help screen.

Skip from a Clock - Choose an Exact Time Marker from any clock, then click the Exact Time Marker Clock button to skip directly to the Exact Time Marker in the Exact Time Marker window. To return to the Exact Time Marker location in the Contents pane of the clock, click the Definition panel.

For more information, see the Jump instructions in the Clocks Definition pane. Using the icon bar, you can insert, edit, or erase an exact timestamp, as well as store and discard your changes. Information about the exact time stamps is shown in these boxes. Accurate time markers are shown in order chronologically according to the minute and second value allocated in the Time box, but this order can be inverted.

Any headings in the listing can be used to arrange the listing by pressing the button to arrange by this area. Here, a verification means that the Exact Time Marker chosen is allocated to at least one clock. Refer to the instructions for erasing the allocated exact time stamps. You cannot edit this area directly.

Precise time markers are given compound designations based on the Add/Edit Exact Time windows selections. You cannot edit this area directly. Shows the time value specified in the Add/Edit Exact Time dialog in seconds and seconds. You can edit this box in the Edit Exact Time dialog. Choose Hit, Rest, Hardware, or Software from the Type drop-down list in the Add/Edit Exact Time pane. The selection of Preset, Hardware or Software enables the boxes for the Under/Over setting. Is used to notify the operator that the transmission time should be near the time specified in the Exact Time box of the search for the clock item.

For example, a hit ETM immediately before a stop set can inform the broadcaster about the time of the broadcast of advertising material. An ETM hit can be provided with flexible offset to give a period of time some degree of latitude in achieving the timing goal. If you design an export program style for spot, hit types exact time markers are used to insert spot set holders into the scheduler call for a special, point-specific box for theplanned time.

It is different from the Start Time box, which is used for songs, links, breaknotes, spot sets, and spot snippets. In the Planned time box, the Planned time of the spot is displayed, and the Start time is the Start time within the Start date. ATTENTION: Rest, Hardware and Software Resets can all be permitted on Overschedule or Underschedule.

Returns the time of the Exact Time to the time selected for the Exact Time Marks, regardless of the time of all previous items in this timetable. Sets the transmission time of the timetable back to the time specified for this Exact Time MARKER. When the Master Control sequencer meets a tough Exact Time MARKER in the timetable before the specified time, it waits for the specified exact time before it plays back an event that is planned beyond the specified time.

When the Master Control Quantizer plays an Exact Time Marker preevent scheduled at the specified time, it will hide that Exact Time Marker preevent and begin playback of the Exact Time Marker preevent on the specified time. Irrespective of how much time remains for the blurred incident, this happens.

As an option, the Back Timed check box can be used with a Hard ETM. Returns the time of the timetable to the time specified for this Exact Time Marker box. If the Master Control Quantizer meets a smooth Exact Time Marker in the timeline, it makes a series of complicated timings.

Checking here means that the Exact Time Marker is set as Back Timed ETM in the Add/Edit Exact Time pane. If you select the ETM type Hardware, the Back Timed box is checked. GSelector can customize the airtime of an Exact Time Marker (ETM) before a Spotset Holder using the Airtime of an Exact Time Marker (ETM) after the Spotset Holder and the length of time the spot imports from the Live Files for that spot.

Please have a look at the timetable extract below. In this example, the aim is to apply back timings to the launch of advertisements in the Spotset Holder so that the News Sounder starts at 59:55. Notice that the ETM #2 time is 59:55. ETM#1's transmission time is adjusted to take into account the planned three minute spots that will be import from the video stream files.

The GSelector would then adapt the ETM #1 time from 56:45 to 57:45 to account for the shorter spot time. These adjustments would be made at the time of traffic integration. As you create or edit an Exact Time Marker, you can type or override new or exisiting data in the Time and Type boxes.

Press the OK key to make the selection. TIP: You can also open the exact time stamp location directly in the Clock Definition pane for edit by choosing the exact time stamp location in the contents pane of the clock and double-clicking any unfolding box for that location. For more information, see the Clocks Definition pane instructions.

Once these boxes are activated, you can specify a minimum and minimum value for the time up to which under- and overplanning is permitted. If, for example, you specify 30 seconds in each box and allow both underplanning and overplanning, and there is a 3'00" room in the timetable to fill, elements with a duration between 2'30" and 3'30" can be planned.

TIP: The larger the time value you enter in these boxes, the simpler it is for GSelector to occupy logging locations, but there is a concurrent danger of undermining the timing target for that exact time stamp. In the Flex offset field, specify a time period. Thus the segments can be started at any time within the time period specified by the offsets.

Once the offsets are at 0:00, the hit exact time markers are ignored by the timing goal. If you use flex offsets, you build a certain amount of operative leeway into your timetable, either at the beginning of the segments or at the end, to the amount you need in these boxes.

On the Clocks Exact Time Markers screen, click the Add icon on the taskbar or hit Ins on the keypad to open the Add Exact Time screen. In the Time box, type a time for the highlighter in seconds and seconds. As an option, you can specify flexible offsets (minutes and seconds) for Hit ETM' s flexible offsets in the Hit ETM' s flexible offsets box so that the segments can be started at any time within the specified time period.

Disable the optional Under/Over check box for Reset, Hardware and Software ATMs. ETM is renamed according to its components and shown in the Clock Exact Time Markers dialog. On the Clocks Exact Time Marker screen, choose an Exact Time Marker and click the Edit icon on the taskbar or hit Return on your keyboard to open the Add/Edit Exact Time screen with the Exact Time Marker detail you chose.

In the Exact Time Marker pane, in the section entitled Controls, choose an Exact Time Marker and click the Delete icon on the taskbar or hit the Del on your keypad. The Exact Time Marker is immediately erased if it is not allocated in any clock. When the exact time stamp is associated in one or more watches, you will be prompted to acknowledge that you are clearing the associated exact time stamp and remove it from all watches and the timetable.

Press the Remember icon to remember changes to the exact time stamps. When the changes are not stored, the system prompts the operator to store them when he exits the screen after an edit. Press the Cancel pushbutton to reset the dialog to the last stored state. Timing target was developed to fill time slots between two Reset Exact Time Markers in the best possible way.

After you have set exact timer markers in clocks, you can use the timing target in the Priorities pane. Category groups used in scheduling to meet the timing goal should be the categories that are least in the Category Group Options pane (see Meaning of Category Groups pane that can be opened from the Categories pane).

Choose the timing target for the priority list associated with the required category. The Log Editor displays the Gap Time for each Exact Time Marker, as shown in the detail screen above. Gap time is the distance between the length of time between two STMs and the overall length of all planned programme items between these STMs.

Gap time of 00:00 indicates that the planned items fill exactly the time between each ETM. Gap time indicates that the part of the timetable between the two TTMs is above time. If the gap time is set to zero, the part of the timetable between the two exact time marks is unplanned.

If you design a clock in the Closed Timer Definition pane, the airtime box displays the gap time immediately above the position of the exact time marker clock. Levels used in a clock are based on mean running times for songs, links or other clock items. The gap time value is shown as a positve value if the overall air time of the ETM ahead of the ETM is greater than the time adjusted for the ETM.

The gap time is shown with a minus value if the skip is underrun. Please remember that this detail figure shows a clock to which no appearances are allocated.
