Build a beautiful website with Squarespace
A million ways to create a website. This course accompanies you through the whole website development from the ground up. I' ll show you every move I've taken to create my own website, and you can simply join in to create yours. Squarespace? What is Squarespace? Creating a website is the simplest and most cost-effective way to do this is by using a single website management system.
I use and highly suggest Squarespace is a template-based website trading system because it's easy to use, nice layouts, built-in eCommerce utilities and automatically responding designs (which is a weird way to say that your website will look good on smartphones, tables and desktops). Squarespace is a 14-day free evaluation version that you can register for while attending this course.
When you are satisfied with your website, you can register for one of their cheap bankrolls, or run your free bankroll for free. I' ve done my research and Squarespace has very reasonable and similar price schedules compared to the competition. My goal is for you to be able to track the course video from beginning to end so you can create your Squarespace page, adding pages, an e-commerce shop, a sell page and a blogs.
This course covers every stage you need to create a fully operational website. When you want a nice "typical" website, this course is for you. Typically, a website consists of several pages (Home, About, Contact) and an option for a website to host a weblog and/or e-commerce shop. That course and place is ideal for:
The Squarespace is particularly suitable for blogs, photographs, artists, music, dining, entertainment, non-profit organizations and project-specific web sites. It may not be a good choice for people who need a complex or very specialized website.
Creating a Squarespace Website
You guys, today I'll show you how to rebuild Squarespace's Momentum templating from beginning to end. Back when I began using Squarespace, I wanted to see other folks create web pages using Squarespace's own webmaster. I' m a learning user, and although Squarespace is simple to use, I had to see someone else use it, how they added pictures and use functions that I may not even know were there.
Sadly, I found very few clips that met these requirements, which led me to create some of my own if I could help other souls. Either view the slideshow I' ve written or follow the instructions below. I' ve chosen to use Momentum for my first workshop because here in our area, Shenandoah Valley to be precise, we have many gifted photographs and performers and Momentum is a great place for anyone to present their photographs or artwork.
Set up a Squarespace account: We' re starting by opening an account on Squarespace. Navigate to and click "Get Started" in the upper right area. Now you can display all Squarespace layouts. There is a browse menu on the far right that allows you to browse to different category guides according to the website you are creating, or you can "like" different websites by simply click on the center of the lower right edge of each image.
The next step is to browse down the page until we see the Momentum pattern and click on it. This next page allows you to view your website in various different sizes, either as a tray, desk or smartphone, and then click on " Launch with Momentum". You must now create a Squarespace user name.
As soon as your evaluation version ends, you can launch a Squarespace subscription for only $12. 00 per months. If I already have an affiliate email address, so I click on "Or use an affiliate account" (if you don't have an affiliate email address yet, create one now).
The next four question you will be asked about the purpose of your website, include the name. I' ll fill in these form as if I wanted a photograph website just like Momentum's (of course you can enter anything that matches your website). As soon as you have completed your survey, you will be directed to your new website.
You will find your navigational area on the leftside and your templates on the right. From my empty page I click on "Pages" in my menu-board. As soon as this is loaded, you will have a listing of your web pages on the leftside of your templates preferences.
You have the possibility to create extra pages to your website, but for the purposes of this tutorial I will only keep the ones mentioned. Produce " page is a photogallery within the "Photography" register card. By clicking on the "Setting" symbol for "Produce", you can change the name of your galleries or create a new one.
We' ll begin by making the slide bar for the "Produce" page. By clicking on the + symbol in the top right of the page, you can download the pictures from your computer. After noticing the initial "Momentum" style, there was a small symbol in the top right of every galleries picture in the area.
It' call an'Info Bar' to allow us to put one over each of our recently added photos by moving the mouse over one of our recently added photos and then clicking on the round'Settings' button that allows us to put a caption and text to our picture. Once you have added your caption and text to your picture, click "Save" and your symbol will appear in the top right of your picture.
When you want to modify the name of your info page, you can double-click the "About" heading or click the round preferences button to name it. Once you have selected a name, move the mouse over the page and you will see a dark line.
One of the items in the dropdown menu of this toolbar is "Edit". Move the mouse pointer back over your page and this once click on the dark drops that appear near your new contents field. These drops have all the different page choices you need for your website. Locate and click the Picture symbol on the Preferences page.
As a result, a checkbox will appear on the right side of your page, allowing you to either download a picture from your computer or select from Squarespace's "Getty Images" where you can buy them. Once you have submitted your picture, click "Apply" and it will be added at the top of your website.
When your picture is too large for the page, move the mouse over the border until a resizing pull point pops up, then click and drag the picture to the desired width or heigth. Now, we will do the same again (move the mouse over the drop and click on the Option tab), but instead of click on the picture symbol, we will click on "Text".
Squarespace will place them on top of each other but we want them to be placed next to each other, so move over one of your text fields and pull it until you see a dark border telling you where the text field will be when you unlock it.
As soon as your dark line shows that your text falls next to (not below) your other text, share it. When your text appears too near to your picture, you can insert a "spacer" to give your picture and text a small cache. When you want to insert a spacer, move the mouse pointer and click on the peardrop again, but this times move down a bit until you see the spacer symbol and click on it.
In your browser toolbar, click on "Blog" and you will see a listing of available choices on the menu to the right of the screen. Click on the + symbol to create a new posting, display your "drafts", check a posting, or create "planned" postings (which is very useful if you are blogging a lot).
Move the mouse over your page until the drops appear and insert your picture, just like on the "Over the page". Move the mouse pointer and click "Edit" to find the drop for your page, then move down until you see a card. The next step is to fill in a request from you. Move your mouse under the card and click on the drop field and move down until you see "Form".
As soon as your request appears, you can change the name of your request and insert extra questions by pressing the + symbol. I' d also like to include a text next to the shape on the leftside to give a little clarification for the purposes of the shape.
Move the mouse pointer over your message until the tear comes out and insert a "Text" with some text. Next, pull your text to the right of the blank and let it fall there. We' d also like a heading over the text area, so move the mouse pointer and click on the brief dark line that will appear just above your recently added text area.
When you click the drop and your various text choices appear, click "B" to make your headline appear fat and insert your text. You will now see that this text is centred above your prior text and to the far side of your template. When your shape is a little crushed to one side, float over the rim of the shape and then pull it a little to the right, then click on " saving ".
