How to Update Theme on WordpressUpdating the theme on Wordpress
Can I update the WordPress theme to a newer release by hand?
Hint: This approach needs some basics in FTP / SFTP to work. Or, you can use these statements to set up automated updating. First of all you need to get the latest design version: Once you have purchased the theme on ThemeForest, go to ThemeForest downloads and install the WordPress installation zipped archive.
Unpack this filename, you will find it in the directory named the same as the theme (it. Haarpresse, Carpress, Webmarket...) where the theme filenames are found (the theme's home directory is the one that contains the style.css file). Replace all existing design versions (wp-content/themes/name-or-your-theme/) with the new one.
When you do this on your own desktop computer, simply copy/paste the whole directory and override all the data. When you upgrade the hot site (live site), you can do this using the FTP, SFTP, or SSH protocol. Be sure to back up your data and databases in case of an emergency!
It is strongly recommended to test things first, either local or on the test/staging servers, as some settings may be affected by the fix. You cannot, however, lose the contents (pages, contributions, utilities, galeries, projects...) during the update because all the contents are in the MySQL data base and are not affected by the update.
When your design uses the Revolution slider or another included plug-in (Essential Grid, ProteusWidgets), you should update it as well!
