How to Update WordpressUpdating Wordpress
As with Genesis, the WordPress itself has periodic upgrades to fix errors and provide performance, safety and interoperability. Make sure to update WordPress when a new version is available to keep your site up to date. There are a few things you should do before upgrading to make sure that everything runs flawlessly.
Default update process: Alternative update options: See Update WordPress in WordPress Codex for more information about updating. Prior to starting the update procedure, take the following steps to make sure that you do not experience any complications: Backup ensures that you have an immediate response schedule if anything goes awry during the upgrade.
Refer to the WordPress Codex for backing up WordPress. Please note: The backup of the upload directory (within wp-content) can often take a long while and is not necessary before the upgrade. WordPress updates should not apply to this directory. When using a plug-in foraching ( e.g. W3 Total Cache, Super Cache or Quick Cache), disable it before updating.
If you disable your plugin, make sure that you do not cache your service pages during the update or otherwise interfere with the update procedure. Usually WordPress users have an overview of future WordPress versions and often update their plug-ins and topic frames (such as Genesis) to keep them compatible and take advantage of new technology. Make sure you update all your plug-ins and designs before updating WordPress to prevent future incompatibility problems.
In order to search for available plug-in and topic upgrades, go to Dashboard > Upgrade in your WordPress Dashboard. See How to update the Genesis framework for details on how to update the Genesis framework. Notice: Your Genesis Childrens Themes do not need to be upgraded; only the Genesis Framework Elternme. For more information, see Do I need to update my children's topic? For more information, see

When you do not see the hint or the update queue is empty, but you know that a new WordPress release is available, click Review Again to update the queue.
If the update is displayed, click Update Now to update WordPress. Once the download is completed, you will see a welcome screen informing you that you have successfully updated WordPress.
