In 1969, the ARPA or Advanced Research Projects Agency conceived the Internet as a vast computer world. In comparison to the Internet, the World Wide Web is much newer and was initiated in the 90s. World Wide Web is a set of http web pages that can be reached over the Internet from anywhere in the world.
http is a type of voice that is used on the Internet to transmit and receive information. It is an internet based utility and all pages that are part of the World Wide Web start with http://www, where wwww is an acronym for World Wide Web.
World Wide Web is a information exchange paradigm. This is a way of access to contents over the Internet. Knowing the difference between the Internet and the World Wide Web is critical to understanding the real workings of searching machines. Searchengines look for web pages that are available on the World Wide Web, not other web pages that are on the Internet.
Basically, searching machines are websites that have been computer-generated. First and foremost, these pages are found by computer programmes used for crawling on the World Wide Web. Up to 15-30 billion pages are expected on the World Wide Web. The pages in a browse site are not suitable for surfing and can only be browsed.
