Purpose of Mood Boards
Not to be mistaken for a moods ring or a moods swings, a moods panel is a way to gather various pieces of information to get ready for a new venture. Moodboard allows your customer to see the orientation of the designs you are heading for before you spend long periods of work on them.
Moodboards can generally be made in two different ways: either manually or electronically. An Moodboard in the physics meaning looks like a colage of pictures, writings, colour scheme, etc.. The next thing to do would be to slice this thing out and fix it to a big plank. While some use billboard, others use cellular cores.
I' d rather use a corkboard and pressure pens for a simple rearrangement, then purge and archive the pictures once the job is over. The Moodboard is a much better organised collection of samples in the field of music. A number of different web sites are available that are blogged, but can be used in a productive way as an interacting moodboard.

All designers can confirm to their customers that they simply can't imagine what is described to them during brain-storming when they delve deeply into the first drafts and surprise them with the orientation of their work. The creation of moodboards in advance, before one deals with the design, can help to avoid this.
Customers can see your directions, you can get customer feedbacks and inputs about the directions they might be heading in, and everyone gets a little less cranky.
