Template Designer Branch - Tutorial - Branch

Twig Template is a template creation tool that provides a description of the template engine's semantics and synopsis. This tool is very useful as a template creation tool. The template is just a text data set. Produces any text-based formats (HTML, HTML, CSV, XML, etc.). There is no particular expansion, . html or . . ml are ok.

Templates contain variable or phrase names that are substituted by value when the template is analyzed, and tag names that determine the template logics. The following is a minimum template that explains some of the basic principles. Use the first to perform instructions such as for looping, the second to print the results of an output on the template.

It transfers tags to the template for modification in the template. You can use tags to have additional tags or tags that you can use. Visually displaying a tag strongly correlates to the way it is used. Instead, you can use a period (.) to retrieve something from the tag tags (methods or features of a PHP instance or element of a PHP array), or the so-called "subscript" syntax of ' []):'bar' If the tag tag contains wildcards (such as - which would be treated as a minus operator), use the tag argument instead to retrieve the tag tag tag:

It is important to know that the curved brackets are not part of the variables, but of the printing instruction. In case a tag or tag does not exists, you will get a null value if the strict_variables flag is wrong; alternative, if strict_variables is flagged, Twig will fail (see Environmental Options).

When you want to retrieve a dynamical attributes of a tag, use the attributes feature instead. Following tags are always available in templates: _self: refers to the actual template name; _context: refers to the actual text of the template; _charset: refers to the actual character set. Filter are seperated from the tag by a pipesymbol (|) and can contain option argument in brackets.

This example will remove all HTML tag from the name and title-cases: Filter that accepts argument have brackets around the argument. A function is invoked by its name followed by brackets (()) and can have an argument. The use of specified argument makes your template clearer about the significance of the value you are passing as an argument:

UTF-8','iso-2022-jp''iso-2022-jp''iso-2022-jp','UTF-8' Called Argumente also allow you to jump over some argument for which you do not want to modify the defaults: "You can also use both positioned and specified parameters in a call, in which case positioned parameters must always precede specified parameters:

"Every functions and filters page has a section that lists the name of all supporting argument (s) if used. As an example, to view a listing of the user provided in a variables named user, use the for tag: You can use theclude feature to embed a template and retrieve the render contents of that template into the actual one:'Sidebar. html' By default, the embedded template will have control over the same text as the template it contains.

That means that any of the variables specified in the master template is also available in the embedded template:'render_box. html' The contained template contains a template called'. html can retrieve the control variables. Template name varies depending on the template feeder. As an example, the file system allows accessing other files by specifying the file name.

This behaviour is dependent on the type of program that Twig is embedded in, and can be used to do this. But the most potent part of branch is template inheritance. What's that? Inheriting a template allows you to create a basic "skeleton" template that contains all of your site's shared items and define block names that can overwrite subordinate template names.

Let's create a basic template, base.html, that specifies a basic HTML template that you can use for a single two-column page: For this example, the cluster tags specify four cluster fields that subordinate template fields can fill. The only thing the bloc does is to tell the template engines that a sub template can overwrite those parts of the template.

Subordinate templates could look like this: "Welcome to my great homepage." Enlargement tags are the keys here. The template informs the template engineer that this template "extends" another template. If the template system analyzes this template, it first searches for the higher-level element. Extended should be the first day in the template.

Notice that the subtemplate does not specify the footing line but uses the value from the superordinate template. The Extended Day document page provides extended functions such as nested blocks, scopes, dynamical heredity, and conditioned heredity.

It is an extended function that is hardly needed in standard template. There is always the danger that when HTML is generated from a template, a tag contains character that affects the resulting HTML. Basically there are two approaches: the manual escape of each of the variables or the automated escape of all variables. You can configure the auto-escape policy using the auto-escape options and it is set to html by setting.

Every one of those variables you don't rely on. Escaping works by passing the variables through the escapement or e-filter: In the standard system, the escapement filters use the HTML policy, but you may want to use all other available policies explicitely, based on the escapement context: js''css''url''html_attr' Whether Auto Escaping is activated or not, you can use the Auto Escaping tags to flag a section of a template as being escaped or not:

Automatic reshaping uses the HTML ascaping technique by default. 3. If, for example, the standard syntax is used and you use {{ as the substring in the template and don't want to launch a tag, you need to use a magic move. But the simplest way is to print the separator ({{) using a floating expression:

These are useful for reusing frequently used HTML fractions so as not to be repeated. This is a small example (called html below) of a makro that render a formal element:
