Programming a CSS3 & HTML5 One-Page Website Template

HTML5 is one of these technology - the new release of the basic web interface of the web. Now we are creating an HTML5 web template that uses some of the new CSS3 and jQuery functions with the scrollTo plugin. Since HTML5 is still in the works, you can optional get an XHTML copy of the template here.

The first step in every creative project is an original concept on which you will later work. Then, the theme is encoded with HTML and CSS and everything goes smoothly, from the creation of the backgrounds, colours and type to the detailed work on the contents. It' a good moment to say that HTML5 is still in the works.

Some of the HTML tag we will use in this tutorial are: headers - wrap your page headers; footers - wrap your page footers; section - groups the contents into paragraphs (e.g. body, side bar, etc.); item - divides the single items from the remainder of the page; general purpose contains your navigational menus; figures - usually contains an picture used as an example for your item.

Except that these tag organizes your page in a semantic way. There are, however, some effects when using HTML5 today. The most noteworthy is the IE browser familiy, which does not natively recognize these tag types (but can be corrected with a basic JavaScript includes file). For this reason, you should make your choice to switch to HTML5 based on your website's target group.

Exactly for this reason we publish a XHTML-only copy of this template. "You can see the new in line one that informs the web page that it was built using the HTML5 default. Once we have determined the coding of the documents and the titles, we proceed to the inclusion of a specific JS files that allows IE (any version) to correctly display HTML5 tag.

Therefore, you should consider, according to your target group, the XHTML standard XHTML template, which works in any web browsers and is available free of charge to all our users. "page " "clear" "#article1" "#article2" "#article3" Here we use the new section tag that divides your page into seperate semi-paragraphs.

This is followed by the headers day and the navigational day. First, the separator line (the best semantic answer would be a line that has the additional function of a logic separator in HTML5, but unfortunately it is not possible to cross-browser, so we will stay with a DIV).

Then we have the new item tags with a distinct ID that is used by the navigator to browse the page. "js " "jquery.scrollTo-1.4.2/jquery.scrollTo-min. js" "script. js" Finally, we have the footing tags that do exactly what you want them to do. On the bottom of the page are the remaining JavaScript include that adds the jQuery libraries and the scrollTo plugin that we will use in the next few stages.

Since we use HTML5, we need to take some additional steps when we stylize. There is no standard style for the tag that this new HTML release implements. However, this is easy to fix with a few rows of code and the page works and looks as it should:

none; : : ;,,,,,::::::::: ; ; We must always reset the value of the new display to blocking, as you can see from the first few rows. Design the horizontals, the items and the navigational keys, the latter being organised as an unsorted listing within the navigational nav day.

Below we allocate the attribute border-radius once for four different kinds of element, which will save a great deal of code. bloc;::: ;:: ;:relativ;:relativ;:none;::: ; link;: right; In the second part of the code we use a more detailled design of the element. Width for the page section, Hoover feature for the character tags, and Style for the link within the bottomline.

In order to improve the template, we created a soft scroll effect as soon as a navigational click was made with the scrollTo jQuery plugin that we previously added to the page. For it to work, we just need to go through the hyperlinks in the top left corner (and the UP hyperlink in the footer) and allocate an on-click action that triggers the $. srollTo() feature that the plugin defines.

a, feet a. up', ); < < < < < < < < < }); }); }); }); This completes our template! We used the new HTML5 semiantic functions in this Tutorial to create and code a one-page Web template. It can be used both for personal and commercial use free of charge, provided you keep the backlink up.
