Today, if you calculated the real GMT, I would see it on the basis of its initial 1 second = 1/86400 day formulation and this would certainly give a different value than what gives us GMT at that time.
In this respect, the name "GMT" appears outdated but is retained for backward compatible purposes, the traditionally time zone-based presentation of time and sometimes also for regulatory purposes. The UT1 is the most accurate version of time. The UTC+14 is the year-round Christmas Island (Kiribati) and Samoa's summers in the northern part of the world.
