Summer time is observable in some of these time zones. For the United States and Canada, this time is commonly referred to as Mountain Time (MT). Specifically, it is the Mountain Default Time (MST) for considering the default time and the Mountain Light Day Time (MDT) for considering the summer time. It is a reference to how the Rocky Mountains, which extend from northwest Canada to the U.S. state of New Mexico, are almost exclusively in the time zones.
Mexico knows this time area as the Zona Pacífico (Pacific Zone). The Mountain Time Zones in the USA and Canada are located eastwards of the Pacific Time Zones and westwards of the Central Time Zones. From 2007 in some areas the time will change from MST to MDT at 2am MST to 3am MDT on the second Sunday in March and return at 2am MDT to 1am MST on the first Sunday in November.
The Navajo Nation, most of which lie within Arizona, observes DST, although the Hopi Nation, as well as some Arizona State Offices which lie within the Navajo Nation, do not.
There is only one single Canada provincial fully included in the Mountain Time Zone: The following states have the same time as the Mountain Time Zone: Nayarit: With the exception of the Bahía de Banderas community, which uses the central time zone.
The Sonora - no summer time, always on MST. The Revillagigedo Island (Colima): Three of the four island have the same time as Mountain Time Zone, Isla Socorro, San Benedicto Island and Roca Partida. There are five states fully included in the Mountain Time Zone: There are four states between the Mountain Time Zone and the Pacific Time Zone.
Following places watch Mountain Time: Arizona - although completely within the Mountain Time Zone, the watches are basically at the same time as the Pacific Daylight Time in summers. But the Navajo nation pays attention to daylight saving time, and its watches are geared to the mountain's daylight saving time in daylight saving time.
