It' s such a useful and recommendable work. I learnt through the Wordpress theme designer how to use the templates to build topics, and I also learnt about the theme designer's basics for Wordpress, best practice, and response design. Overall I was dissapointed with this work and would not suggest it.
Even before the first section, "Downloading the colour pictures of this book", the incorrect links are given, leading the user to a PDF containing screen shots that have nothing to do with the work. Looks like it's for another one. Authors say they provided the wallpaper in the sources, but it is NOT contained (none of the wallpapers were provided).
Normally I overlooked misprints, but this one has more misprints than any user would consider reasonable. Several of the spelling mistakes were serious enough to cause confusions, e.g. with reference to a data set with the incorrect extensions. In addition, some of the screen shots in the manual do not reflect the state of the art of the artwork, which is bewildering.
Luckily for me, I've had some previous experiences with WordPress, so I was able to spot most of the bugs or know what the script was doing, despite the ambiguous statements of the writer, but I'd say someone with less previous knowledge would definitely have a good deal of Frustration in various places of this work.
The only personal salvation is that I got this at a reduced rate, and I learned a few new things. But if I had gotten a paper version, I would have been angry that Packt published this in such a bad condition.
