Setting up a WordPress e-commerce website with WooCommerce The manual describes exactly how to create a WordPress e-commerce website with the WooCommerce plug-in. WordPress started out as a way to blogs on-line. Throughout the years, it has developed into a full-fledged "content control system" - in other words, back-end application that can "power" any kind of website - even an e-commerce website.

However, WordPress as an e-commerce plattform is not suitable for everyone. Also, I suggest using HostGator (see their schematics here) and SiteGround (see their schematics here) for HostMotion Hosted (see their schematics here) as good choices (I've checked each one here, here and here). When you start big (thousands of items, many thousand of visitors), you need either a WordPress administered hosted email address from a business like WP Engine (see their plan here) or a VPS hosted email address from AtMotion.

Actually, there are 3 main elements that turn a "normal" website into an "e-commerce" website - products pages, shopping basket and an ordering procedure. E-commerce features can be added to WordPress with a plug-in. Plug-ins are special programs that you installed and activated in WordPress that essentially complement what you can do.

If this is the case, we need a plug-in that creates customized shopping pages, that has a shopping basket feature that allows individuals to put items in a shopping basket while they are on the site, and that synchronizes with a payment system to allow payment to be accepted and to synchronize those payment with the items the visitor made.

We have many plug-in choices to turn your WordPress page into an e-commerce page, but by far the marketer is WooCommerce by Automattic (the folks behind WordPress.com and JetPack). To be a sound long-term option for an e-commerce plug-in, it has the features, usability, reputation, popularity, and flexibility to be the right one.

It is the most advanced e-commerce site I have ever seen for optimizing your e-commerce engines. It is important to find a topic that does not create mutilated and unsightly products. This means you also want a multifaceted topic that is drafted, upgraded and generally only gives you the website you want. There are a few choices I suggest. First you can get a WooThemes topic.

You' re paid for ( i.e., not free ), well done, and (of course) synchronized with WooCommerce perfect. Secondly, you can use a standard WordPress topic such as Twenty-Twelve. They are free, well done and can be expanded by the installation of a children-topic. It will be the least expensive alternative, but also one that will require some engineering work to get the website you want.

Third, you can go to a high standard market place like ThemeForest and get a WooCommerce compliant premier themed. They are well done and a very simple answer, but make sure you exactly what you are looking for in a topic. Finally, you can get a topic framework like Genesis from StudioPress.

The Genesis application add some important topic features (such as the addition of contents to categories pages), synchronizes across all types of plug-ins, and allows you to make simple changes to your website without affecting its overall look (especially with built-in child themes). Genesis' Talk is available here, but it is the way to create a WordPress website based on my experiences.

However, all the other choices are fantastic - and WooThemes is great if you want some plug and play. When you work with Genesis, you need a little supplement to synchronize it with WooCommerce. First get Genesis and get your first kid themes (like Genesis Sample) installed.

Adjusting the picture settings can be a little tricky, but WooCommerce has great docs here that I reviewed before I uploaded them. However, if the dimension isn't quite right, don't worry because you'll be on the same monitor and can re-generate your picture sizes. WooCommerce is a company that is committed to providing you with the best possible service, and the most important thing is to keep an eye on details and take full account of all the possibilities that WooCommerce has to offer.

When you choose a plattform approach, you often don't have so many choices. Also, other self-hosted e-commerce applications (like Magento) are far less user-friendly. Inventory and dispatch option are also very customisable. You can organise your items directly on the item page, but you can also manage them as a whole from the items page. Quickly aside: If you use a topic like Genesis that allows you to put contents on your categories pages, they can be a great chance for your webmasters.

And both are great choices for a host system as well.
